Terms of Service

Last updated: July 21, 2026

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of doalt ("the Service"), operated by doalt ("we", "us", "our"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms in full. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old (or the age of majority in your jurisdiction) to use the Service. By creating an account, you represent that you meet this requirement. One account per person.

2. Description of the Service

doalt is a task management application with a voluntary financial accountability mechanism. You add tasks with due dates. At midnight in your local timezone each day, any tasks that remain incomplete are subject to a monetary penalty. The penalty amount is set by you ($1, $2, or $5 per task) and can be changed at any time before midnight. 100% of penalty proceeds are donated to a charity of your choosing from the available options.

3. Authorization to Charge Your Payment Method

By linking a payment method (credit or debit card) to doalt, you explicitly authorize us to initiate charges to that payment method on your behalf, without requiring your presence or additional confirmation at the time of each charge.

Specifically, you authorize the following:

(a) Trigger: A charge is initiated each day at 00:00 (midnight) in your local timezone when one or more tasks assigned to that day remain marked as incomplete.

(b) Amount: The charge amount equals your currently selected penalty rate multiplied by the number of incomplete tasks for that day. For example, if your penalty rate is $1.00 and you have 3 incomplete tasks, the charge is $3.00. The maximum charge per day depends on the number of tasks you create.

(c) Frequency: Charges may occur daily, depending on your task completion. There is no fixed billing cycle — charges are event-triggered based on your activity (or inactivity).

(d) Off-session processing: Charges are processed automatically at midnight without requiring you to be logged in or actively using the app at the time of the charge.

(e) Demo balance: New accounts receive a $5.00 demo balance. Penalties are deducted from your demo balance first. Once the demo balance reaches $0.00, penalties are charged to your linked payment method.

This authorization remains in effect until you remove your payment method from doalt or delete your account.

4. How to Stop Charges

You may stop future charges at any time by doing any of the following:

(a) Removing your payment method from your account via Settings. This immediately prevents all future charges. No charges will be initiated after your payment method is removed.

(b) Completing all tasks before midnight. If no tasks are incomplete at midnight, no charge is initiated.

(c) Deleting your account entirely, which removes your payment method and all associated data.

Removing your payment method or deleting your account does not affect charges that have already been processed.

5. Charity Donations

100% of penalty charges are donated to the charity you select from the available options (currently: Ocean Cleanup Fund, Books for Kids, Street Cat Rescue). doalt does not retain any portion of penalty charges. We reserve the right to modify the list of available charities with notice.

6. Payments and Processing

All payments are processed by Stripe, Inc.doalt does not store your full payment card number. Your payment information is handled in accordance with Payment Card Industry Data Security Standards (PCI DSS). Charges will appear on your bank statement as "DOALT" or "DOALT TASKS".
